Stainless steel
All chainmail, clasps, and findings are made from 304 grade or 316 grade stainless steel. Pieces with only chainmail and clasps are made entirely of 316 grade stainless steel.
Care: stainless steel has an extremely high water and tarnish resistance. This makes it one of the easiest metals to look after and means that it can be worn in all conditions without having to worry (this includes shower, freshwater, and saltwater). While stainless steel can be worn in chlorinated water (pools), the chemicals can dull the stainless steel over time and so this is not recommended if you want your pieces to stay shiny.
Pearls and gems
Pearls and gems are delicate. Pearls can be cleaned gently with a damp cloth if needed. It is not recommended to shower with pearl pieces, as water and soap can dull the luster and damage their surface.
Likewise, the best way to ensure that gemstones keep their luster and do not scratch or corrode is to not wear these pieces when showering or swimming.
Sourcing
I source my pearls and gemstones from secondhand markets, marktplaats, vinted, and occasionally through NL-based beadshops. My chainmail rings come from an NL-based shop. I avoid temu/aliexpress. I have bought from amazon in the past, and some beads may still be from those orders, but from 2026 on I am also avoiding amazon. This does mean that I sometimes don't have specific sizes of pearls or specific gemstones available. Ofcourse, if you have your own beads, I'm more than happy to use them to make something :).
